Seed Rate:
10 to 15 Kgs seed/acre. Add more quantity in salty soils.
Sowing Times :
25” September to Last weak of October subjected to day temperature 29.C. Recommendations of local Agriculture Deptt. Or Agriculture Universities be applied
Important Note :
Sow Parasmani-2 after soaking into 250 ml. water for 30 minutes followed by drying in the shadow. Sowing of seed kept over night with moist soil will over come the problem of poor germination in scanty moisture content.
Fertilizer :
(i) Unirrigated : 50 kg single super phosphate and 35 kgs urea be added at the time of sowing .
(ii) Irrigated:
Add 75 kgs single super phosphate, 35 kgs urea. 10 kgs zinc Sulphate at eh time of sowing and 30 kgs urea at first flowering.
Suphur:
Sulphur is essential element for oil seed crops. Application of single superphate is advisable in place of DAP. As it consists 12% sulphur. Do not apply DAP in oil seed crops. Sulphur can be supplemented by adding 100 kgs Gupsum at the time of sowing or 500 gms sulfex/ Thiovita as foliar application at 30 days and 45 days of sowing.
Irrigation :
Plan irrigation according to availability of water but two irrigations first at the time of flowering and second at silliqua formation are essential.
Plant Protection:
To control Aphicls and Jassids sprary imidacioprid @ 40 grms./ acre. To check sawfly. Sprary Ecdosulfan 400 ml/acre. White rust can be contaled by spraying Mancozed @ 500 gm/acre in the month of December and January.
Attention :
Sowing of seed after treating seed with one packet of Azotobactes per acre helps in fixing nitrogen in the soil. Simultaneously one packet of Phosphotika converts insoluble phosphates in to soluble form which ultimately results higher production.
Above cultural practices may be modified in consultation with Depptt, Agriculture of experts of local Universities to take higher production.
