Seed Rate :
40 kg top quality seed is sufficient for something one acre field. However, 25% seed rate may be increased in case of late sowing. Though broad casting method of sowing is not advisable but even then seed rate per acres should be increased to 50 kg/acre.

Sowing Times :
The optimum time of sowing of wheat is 1 st to 25 th November. Sowing may be started in last week of October in unirrigated areas. If sowing is compelled to be delayed due to unavailable circumstances, preference should be given to late sown varieties. While fixing sowing time it may be kept in consideration that day temperature should not be more than 22 0 C.

Method of Sowing :
Avoid broad casting method of sowing. Sowing of wheat crop in lines having 20 cm distance at 5 cm deep is advisable. Reduce distance to 18 cm while sowing is delayed.

Irrigations :
Five to six irrigations are recommended for good crop. First irrigation should coincide with crown root initiation stage, after wards the irrigation should be repeated after every 25 days. Crown root initiation, tillering and milking are critical stages for irrigation to avoid downfall in yield.

Weedicide :
Spray of topic, leader, puma super to check narrow leaf weeds like Bathua, kadbadthua and kandai.

Fertilizer :
Application of 60 kgs urea, 150 kgs single super phosphate and 40 kg murit of potash with seed drill at the time of sowing is recommendation may be modifies on the basis of field testing and advise of Agriculture Deptt. And phosphotikes converts insoluble phosphorous into soluble form.

Zinc Application :
1 kg Zinc Sulphate with 5 kg Urea in 200 litre water be supplies if Zinc deficiency symptoms appears.

Plant Protection :
Wheat crop suffers with yellow, black and brown rusts which cause losses upto 50%. Foliair opplication of Diathene z-78 @ 600 gm/acres in 200 liters water after 45 days of sowing is advisable. Application of propoconazole (TILT) controls Karnal Bunt. Sowing of seed duly treated @ 2 gm vita vax or Raxil per kg seed protect the seed from loose smut.
