Head – Seed Quality & Laboratory
We are seeking a highly qualified professional to lead our Seed Quality Laboratory and ensure quality compliance across the seed plant. This role will be responsible for seed testing activities (purity, germination, vigor, moisture, etc.), achieving and maintaining NABL & ISTA accreditation, and implementing quality protocols in processing, treatment, packaging, and storage. The position demands both technical expertise and leadership to uphold national and international quality standards.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Seed Laboratory Management
• Supervise and oversee all seed testing activities: purity, germination, vigor, moisture content, genetic purity.
• Ensure accuracy, transparency, and timely release of lab test results.
• Maintain and calibrate all seed testing equipment regularly.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory activities.
Accreditation & Compliance
• Lead and manage the process of obtaining and sustaining NABL (ISO/IEC 17025) accreditation.
• Drive ISTA accreditation, ensuring compliance with ISTA rules and protocols.
• Prepare documentation, quality manuals, and audit records.
• Liaise with auditors, accreditation bodies, and government regulators.
Seed Plant Quality Leadership
• Implement quality protocols in all plant operations: seed processing, treatment, packaging, and storage.
• Monitor and minimize risks of contamination, admixtures, or quality loss.
• Conduct inspections, spot checks, and sampling during processing and packaging.
• Coordinate with production and packaging departments to ensure consistent quality.
Continuous Improvement & Training
• Conduct regular internal audits and reviews of quality systems.
• Lead corrective and preventive actions for any non-conformities.
• Train and mentor lab and plant staff on quality assurance practices.
• Drive initiatives to adopt best-in-class seed quality management practices.
Qualifications & Experience
• Master’s degree in Seed Technology / Agriculture / Plant Breeding / Biotechnology or related discipline.
• 7–12 years of experience in seed testing, seed quality assurance, and laboratory management.
• Proven experience with NABL ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and ISTA accreditation.
• Strong understanding of seed processing, treatment, packaging, and storage quality protocols.
• Excellent leadership, audit-preparation, and documentation skills.
